Privacy Policy

Effective May 24, 2026

Remy ("Remy," "we," "our," or "us") operates an invite-only, AI-powered dating and social matching service (the "Service") in which a personal AI agent ("your Remy") learns about you and converses with other members' agents on your behalf. Dating and social-matching services involve some of the most sensitive personal data a person shares online. This Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have. By using Remy you agree to this Policy.

Remy is intended for adults 18 years or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn we have, we will delete it.

1. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account & identity data: name, email, phone number, date of birth (to verify you are 18+), city, and invite code.
  • Profile & preference data: photos, bio, gender identity, sexual orientation, relationship intent, interests, values, and the open-ended answers you share with your Remy during onboarding. Some of this — including data that reveals sexual orientation — is treated as sensitive personal information under laws such as the GDPR, UK GDPR, and CPRA, and we process it only with your explicit consent for the purpose of providing matchmaking.
  • Agent conversation data: the transcripts between you and your Remy, and the transcripts between your Remy and other members' Remys on your behalf.
  • Match & messaging data: matches we surface, debriefs, accept / pass / extend decisions, and messages you send other members after you connect.
  • Device & usage data: IP address, device identifiers, app version, OS, crash logs, approximate location (city level), and feature usage. Precise GPS location is only collected if you turn it on.
  • Safety & verification data: selfie / liveness checks (where offered), reports you file, and moderation signals. Biometric identifiers, where used, are processed only to verify you are a real human and are deleted after verification unless retention is required by law.
  • Payment data (if you purchase anything): handled by our payment processor; we receive only a token and the last 4 digits of the card.

2. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Operate the Service and create and improve your Remy.
  • Match you with other members whose Remys produced a compatible conversation, and generate the debrief you read.
  • Verify your age and identity, prevent fraud and impersonation, and enforce our Community Guidelines.
  • Keep the Service safe — including investigating reports, detecting harassment, abuse, sexual content involving minors, doxxing, and other prohibited behavior.
  • Communicate with you about your account, matches, and product updates.
  • Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your sensitive personal information, agent conversations, or private messages to serve you third-party advertising.

3. AI processing and model training

Your Remy is powered by large language models. To deliver matchmaking we send relevant parts of your profile and agent conversations to AI providers acting as our processors under contractual confidentiality and data-protection terms.

We do not use your messages, profile content, agent transcripts, or photos to train third-party foundation models. We may use de-identified or aggregated data to evaluate and improve Remy's own matching quality and safety systems. You can opt out of any internal model-improvement use by emailing privacy@remy.app.

Important match decisions (surfacing a match, ranking, safety actions) are not solely automated for legal-effect purposes — you always choose whether to accept, pass, or extend, and our trust & safety team reviews enforcement actions that materially affect your account.

4. What other members see

  • Other members do not see your raw onboarding answers, your private conversations with your Remy, your contact info, your exact location, or your date of birth.
  • They see the profile fields you choose to publish (photos, first name, age, city, prompts) and only after both Remys produce a match, a curated debrief.
  • Once you accept a match, you and the other member can message directly; those messages are visible to both of you and to Remy for safety review.

5. How we share information

We share personal data only as follows:

  • Other members, limited to what is described in Section 4.
  • Service providers / processors who host our infrastructure, send email, run analytics, process payments, run identity verification, and provide AI model inference — bound by written agreements limiting their use of your data to providing the service to us.
  • Safety partners and law enforcement where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, protect someone's life or safety, investigate fraud, or enforce our Terms.
  • Corporate transactions — if Remy is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred, subject to this Policy.

We do not sell or "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined under the CPRA.

6. Data retention

  • Active accounts: we retain your data while your account is active.
  • Inactive accounts: we may delete or anonymize profile content after 24 months of inactivity.
  • Deleted accounts: when you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your profile, photos, and agent conversations within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal, tax, fraud-prevention, or safety reasons (e.g., records of policy-violating behavior, banned users, or reports made against you).
  • Messages with other members: retained for both sides of the conversation for safety review for up to 12 months after the conversation ends.
  • Identity verification data: deleted promptly after verification unless required by law.

7. Security

We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, least-privilege access controls, audit logging, and regular security reviews. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you and the appropriate regulators as required by law.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR, UK GDPR, CPRA, and similar laws), you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate data.
  • Delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Port your data to another service.
  • Withdraw consent to processing of sensitive data (this may mean we can no longer match you).
  • Object to or restrict certain processing, including any profiling.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

You can exercise most rights inside the app under Settings → Privacy, or by emailing privacy@remy.app. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law (typically 30–45 days).

9. International transfers

Remy is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S. and other countries where our providers operate. Where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses, the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework, or other lawful transfer mechanisms.

10. Children

Remy is strictly for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, and we will terminate any account we discover belongs to a minor.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date means you accept the updated Policy.

12. Contact

Questions, requests, or complaints about privacy can be sent to privacy@remy.app. For users in the EU/UK, you also have the right to contact your local supervisory authority.
